Heinrich Hora (born 1931 in Bodenbach, Czechoslovakia) is a German-Australian theoretical physicist who made contributions to solid state physics, optical properties of plasma with relativistic and quantum effects and nonlinear dynamics with applications of lasers for producing nuclear fusion energy. He lives in Sydney where he is Emeritus Professor at University of New South Wales and Vice-President of the Royal Society of New South Wales.

Koichi Shimizu received M.S. (1976) and Ph.D. (1979) degrees, from University of Washington (UW), Seattle, USA. He was Research Associate in UW 1974-79. He was an Assistant-, an Associate- Professors, and a Professor in Hokkaido University, Sapporo, Japan in 1979-2016. He is currently a Professor Emeritus of Hokkaido University and a Professor of Waseda University, Kitakyushu, Japan. He has been engaged in the studies of biomedical engineering including those of wave propagation in biological media, optical measurement, biotelemetry and biological effects of electromagnetic field. He served as an associate editor of IEEE Trans. ITB in 1999–2007. He has been a Fellow of the Electromagnetics Academy, and an editorial board member of Scientific Reports, Nature.

He completed his Degree (SSi) in Physics at University of Riau in 1993, Master degree (MPhil) in Plasma Physics at University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST) Manchester, United Kingdom in 2000 and Doctoral degree in Photonic Physics (Doctor) at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Johor Malaysia in 2009. He is also an active member in IEEE, OSA, AMC, PSI, SPIE and IOP. He has published many articles and supervised master and doctoral students. Currently, his research focus is photonics such as fiber optic components, network and system for communication, antennas and biosensors of metamaterials. His research also designs and operates circuits and waveguides to generate plasma by electrical discharge and microwave in industrial application at atmospheric air pressure.

Professor Chigrinov graduated from Faculty of Applied Mathematics, Moscow Electronics Institute, the Diploma of Engineer - Mathematician (MPhil) in 1973. In 1978, he obtained PhD degree in Solid State Physics (Liquid Crystals) in the Institute of Crystallography , USSR Academy of Sciences. In 1988, he becomes a Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Science and obtained a degree of a Professor in 1998. Since 1973, he was a Senior, Leading Researcher, and then Chief of Department in Organic Intermediates & Dyes Institute (NIOPIK). Since 1996 he was working as a Leading Scientist in the Institute of Crystallography , Russian Academy of Sciences and join HKUST in 1999, as an Associate Professor. He was a coauthor of the first LC materials and devices based on Electrically Controlled Birefringence, Twisted Nematic and Supertwisted Nematic and Ferroelectric LC materials, working at understanding the fundamental aspects of LC physics and technology, including electrooptical effects in liquid crystals and optimization of LC device configurations. Some new LC Electrooptical Modes, such as Orientational Instability in Cholesteric LC, Deformed Helix Effect in Ferroelectric LC, and Total Internal Reflection, Surface Gliding Effect and Surface Induced Orientational Transition in Nematic LC were first described by him and confirmed in experiment. The classification of the Domain Structures in LC was made based on his theoretical predictions and simulation results. Efficient Modeling Universal System of LC Electrooptics software was developed with his direct participation and supervision. He was a coauthor of a pioneering work in LC Photoaligning Technology, which has about 500 citations in scientific and technical journals. He is an Expert in Flat Panel Technology in Russia , recognized by World Technology Evaluation Centre, 1994, a Senior Member of the Society of Information Display (SID) since 2004 and become a fellow of SID since Jan 2008. Since 1997 he is a Vice-President of Russian Chapter of SID. He is a member of Editorial Board of "Liquid Crystals Today" since 1996 and Associate Editor of Journal of SID since 2005. He is an author of 2 books, 15 reviews and book chapters, 133 journal papers, 286 Conference presentations and 50 patents and patent applications in the field of liquid crystals since 1974. 7 PhD students defended their degrees under his supervision. He is a Member of International Advisory Committee for Advanced Display Technology Conferences in Russia , Ukraine and Belarus since 1999, European SID Program Committee since 2004, International Advisory Board of International Liquid Crystal Conference since 2006.

Biography
He born in 1970 in the small town of Waziristan, Wana (Pakistan). He received his PhD degree in 2013, from University of Tsukuba, Japan. In 2012, he has discovered the thin film of boron (B) doped p-type BaSi2 layer "p+" along with his PhD supervisor Prof. Takashi Suemasu during his PhD work. From 2014 to 2016, he was appointed as a research scientist in the team of FUTUTER PV-Innovation, Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST), Fukushima Renewable Energy AIST Institute (FREA). In FREA, he worked on Si NWs, SiGe and a-Si/c-Si-based heterojunction solar cells. In 2016, he also worked as associate professor in National Institute of Technology, Fukushima College Iwaki. Later in 2017, he moved to the Professor Hideki Hirayama's group at CPR Riken as a researcher. Since then, he has been doing research on the growth, fabrication, characterization and device applications of group III-nitride semiconductors (AlGaN, AlN and GaN). Recently he developed low-temperature deposited AlGaN buffer layers underneath the multi quantum well for the growth of group III-nitride semiconductor films on AlN templet on sapphire substrate, which led to the realization of UVB LED with a world record external-quantum-efficiency (EQE) of 9.3% and light outpower of 42mW on bare-wafer condition at 300-304nm emission as well as light outpower of 29mW at 310nm emission for medical and agricultural applications. He is the author and co-author of more than 50 journal publications of the international repute. His main areas of interest are AlGaN/InAlGaN based UVA, UVB, UVC LEDs and laser diodes.

Dr. Adriana Lipovac was born in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, in 1989. She took her Bachelor degree from the University of Sarajevo, in 2010, and her Master degrees in both Electrical Engineering and in Computing from the University of Dubrovnik, in 2012. Following graduation, she continued her work in the field of mobile communications as a Teaching Assistant at the University of Dubrovnik, while conducting her research on modeling 4G wireless systems physical layer performance, at the University of Zagreb, where she received her Ph.D. in 2014. Since November 2019, she has been working as an Associate Professor at the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computing, University of Dubrovnik, where she also holds the position of Head of the Laboratory for Communications Technology. During and after her research on OFDM symbol transfer performance over time-dispersive radio channels, she published several scientific papers in renowned journals, and presented her work at international conferences.
