Biography

Patricia A. Drees, graduated from Fort Hays State University with a bachelor’s of science in nursing in 1987 and a master’s of science in nursing in 2014.  She a registered nurse with twenty-one years of direct patient care and eleven years teaching in nursing.  She has worked as a staff nurse and a charge nurse at Lawrence Memorial Hospital, Lawrence, Kansas (1987-1989), and Hays Medical Center, Hays, Kansas (1989-2008). Her clinical nursing experiences include medical-surgical nursing and maternal-newborn nursing. She taught in an associate degree nursing program at North Central Kansas Technical College (2008-2017) and now teaches in the on campus BSN and online RN-BSN programs at Fort Hays State University (2017-present).  She teaches face-to-face and online courses currently which include practicums in nursing skills, beginning nursing and mental health nursing.

Adele Webb’s focus is international nurse capacity building.  She has extensive funding for her international work and has published in several journals.  She contributed to WHO guidelines and testified to the Institute of Medicine and the White House.  A sought-out speaker on international nursing care, Adele collaborates with WHO and the World NCD Congress.  Adele has contributed to nurse capacity building in 53 countries.  Adele received the Nicholas Andrew Cummings award for Excellence in Interprofessional, is an International Council of Nurses Global Health Fellow, and a Fellow in both the National Academies of Practice and the American Academy of Nursing.

Dr. Patricia A. Seabrooks graduated from the University of California San Francisco with the PhD in Nursing Science in 1992.  She has practiced advanced practice nursing and nursing education over the many years of her professional life. She is now the Dean of Nursing at the Miami Regional University which prepares foreign trained physicians and others with a bachelor’s degree, as professional nurses and nurse practitioners. The university also offers the Associate in Science, Bachelor’s in Science and the RN to BSN program.  For the professionals with BS degrees, they matriculate through a Direct Entry program that propels them to complete basic nursing, and after testing successfully for the license, they continue to the advanced practice certificate program.

Natalia Cineas, DNP, RN, NEA-BC, is Senior Vice President/System Chief Nursing Executive for NYC Health + Hospitals, the largest public healthcare system in the nation, serving more than one million New Yorkers annually in more than 70 patient care locations. She previously held nursing leadership roles at New York City’s Mount Sinai St. Luke’s Hospital, and New York-Presbyterian Hospital, Columbia University Medical Center. She holds a Doctorate of Nursing Practice from George Washington University; Masters of Science in Management and Bachelors of Science from New York University, and Bachelors of Arts in Psychology from Stony Brook University.

Dr. Carmen Herbel Spears has over 30 years in nursing/healthcare management. She has 15 years of experience in traditional and online education. Her experience in healthcare management includes home health, hospital and critical care management. She has been director and CEO of both national healthcare and rural healthcare systems. She has been Dean of Healthcare for eight years. She holds a Doctorate in Health Care Administration and master’s and bachelor’s in nursing. She has published on national healthcare systems iniatives, Learning Theory, nursing mentoring programs, and organizational management of online education and healthcare systems.

Stuart Mott, LPN, is a cannulation expert who specializes in the patient’s experience of dialysis needles. He has been a dialysis nurse for more than 20 years, working with patients who have had acute and chronic dialysis, and spent more than 6 years as a traveling nurse to multiple states. Since 2005, he has been a vascular access nurse, and has developed several unique approaches. Stuart has spoken at multiple conventions, acute units, and in-center teaching in-services through out United States, and has published articles in the Nephrology Nursing Journal. He is a board member of ESRD Network 12 and works with the Fistula First Breakthrough Initiative as an advisor. Renee Bauer studied nursing at Indiana State University, Terre Haute and graduated with her PhD in 2015. She has spent 25 years working in psychiatry and teaching research and psychiatric nursing. She has over 30 publications and 40 presentations. Presently, she is attending the University of Southern Indiana to obtain her psychiatric practitioner license.

Mohammad Zeyad Shaban is a life support instructor, currently working as Clinical Educator and head of education department in Health point hospital - Abu Dhabi. He have MSc in Leadership in Health professions Education, and Bachelor of Nursing in 2003. His nursing journey exceeded 17 years in many hospitals in Middle East and different positions (RN, Charge nurse, Nursing supervisor, Life support coordinator and Clinical educator). Through his education activity (CME lectures, case presentation, practice demonstration, Conferences, workshops…etc.) he hope that he will be able to have impact in future nursing education, share his clinical expertise and participate in research.

Samira Obeid is a head of the Health Promotion Department, North District, Ministry of Health and a lecturer on at the The Max Stern Yezreel Valley College, Nursing department. Her research interests are mainly in: evaluation of health promotion projects, ethics competence and social epidemiology. She is involved in some research projects such as: evaluation of radio campaign in the topic of raising awareness on preventing Brucella disease, factors protecting healthy weight of children in low socio-economic situation, Arab Muslim clerics as social agents, health behaviors among Ethiopian new immigrants and violence and tolerance attitudes of Arab and Jewish students.

Hazel Downing, associate professor of nursing at the Hawaii Pacific University, graduated from the University of Phoenix in 2010 with her doctorate in Education. In her role as associate professor of nursing, she teaches both BSN and MSN courses. She currently also practices as a clinical nurse specialist for critical & emergency care. She has delivered numerous inspirational keynote speeches for new nurses for the last 18 years, won several teaching awards, and presented at both national and international conferences. Her latest presentation on nurse obesity was at the 2019 International Council of Nurses.

Miss Yuchen graduated from National University of Singapore (NUS) in 2015. She has been working as a staff nurse for 3 years before going back NUS and joining the research group of Assist. Prof. Wu Xi Vivien at Alice Lee Centre of Nursing Studies (ALCNS). After one and a half year working in research area, Yuchen is able to manage multiple research project and publish papers in nursing journals with support of Dr. Wu Xi Vivien.

Dr. Douge‘s work is to inform, develop, and evaluate strategies to reduce poisoning incidents as well as promoting effective post exposure management. Dr. Douge is dedicated to reducing poisonings in the population served. In that regard, she has initiated several poison prevention projects targeting medication safety, vaping, home safety, as well as seasonal poisoning risks for people of all ages. Dr. Douge currently teaches Clinical Toxicology to practicing healthcare professionals and students in health professions. She continuously fosters collaborative partnerships with other organizations and is an active member of several committees at the State, Regional and National level.

Taylor Pearson is a board-certified Informatics nurse, educator, and has her Lean Six Sigma Black Belt with over 29 years of experience in numerous direct and indirect care settings across the enterprise to include trauma, flight nursing, primary care, specialty care, and medical management.  Additionally, she is the Population Health Consultant and Clinical Practice Guideline Coordinator in the Office of Evidence Based Practice, HQ MEDCOM, and is a retired Army Nurse Corps Officer.

Joselice Almeida Góis has a degree in Nursing and Obstetrics from State University of Feira de Santana, a master’s degree in Nursing from Federal University of Bahia. She is currently an Assistant Professor at UEFS – State University of Feira de Santana. Has experience in the field of Nursing, with emphasis on Intensive Care, Emergency and Cardiology. Diana Pernicano BSN, RN-BC is a honors graduate of Mount Saint Mary College’s Nursing Program. She has over two years of experience on a Medical/Surgical Unit at White Plains Hospital. Diana has undergone numerous in-services, classes, and has reviewed multiple CE Direct modules on surgical site infection, incisional care, and discharge education. She enjoys educating and leading fellow unit staff in best practices regarding surgical care. Sergey Suchkov was born in the City of Astrakhan, Russia, in a family of dynasty medical doctors. In 1980, graduated from Astrakhan State Medical University and was awarded with MD. In 1985, Suchkov maintained his PhD as a PhD student of the I.M. Sechenov Moscow Medical Academy and Institute of Medical Enzymology. In 2001, Suchkov maintained his Doctor Degree at the National Institute of Immunology, Russia. Dr. David Hoffman Van Thiel majored in chemistry at Pomona College in California and obtained his MD from the University of California Los Angeles in 1963. He completed a year of pathology training between his second and third year of medical school. His house ofcer training occurred at the Cornell University in NYC from 1963-1965 and Boston University between1967-1969 having been interrupted for 2 years of government service at the NIH. Following his training, he spent 20 years at the University of Pittsburgh as a professor of medicine and developed 5 different liver transplant programs published >1100 peer –reviewed papers.

Rosa María obtained the degree of Nurse in 2009 and a Master of Science in Nursing in 2012, both from the University of Guanajuato. During the period 2009-2012 she worked in a second level of care institution and currently, in a third level of care hospital providing care to kidney transplant patients. She completed her doctorate in Medical Sciences in 2017 and since then has been a research professor at the University of Guanajuato. Her research focuses on the quality of life of the person with chronic degenerative disease and the family impact of terminal illnesses.

Alan Talevi obtained his Pharmacy degree in 2004 and completed his PhD studies in 2007, both at the University of La Plata (UNLP, Argentina). He holds an Independent Researcher positionat the Argentinean Council of Science, and he is Lecturer of the Biopharmacy course at the Faculty of Exact Sciences, UNLP. He published over 70 articles and more than 30 book chapters related to machine learning and drug discovery. He was Head of the Department of Biological Sciences of the Faculty of Exact Sciences (2015-2017). Since 2018 he is Head of the Laboratory of Bioactive Research and Development (LIDeB, UNLP).

Dr. W. C. Wong is a Registered Nurse and Registered Psychiatric Nurse in Hong Kong. She obtained the Bachelor of Nursing with Honors and Master of Science in Nursing in 2001 and 2010 respectively. She also obtained a Post-Graduation Diploma in Psychiatric Nursing in 2005. Subsequently, she obtained a DBA in 2015. Before started her academic career, she worked in various hospital specialties and had considerable clinical experience. Dr. Wong joined the Open University of Hong Kong in 2011. Jessica  Schwab  is  a  Registered  Nurse  with  a  Masters  of  Science  in  Nursing  from Columbia University,  currently  working towards her  Doctorate in Nursing Practice in Adult-Gerontology Primary  Care at Columbia University. She received her Bachelor of Science in Biology at The Evergreen  State  College  in  2014.  Following  her  undergraduate  education,  she  worked  in  a variety of community health positions which informed her decision to pursue a career as a nurse practitioner.

Huang Wei Ling, born in Taiwan, raised and graduated in medicine in Brazil, specialist in infectious and parasitic diseases, General Practitioner and Parenteral and Enteral Medical Nutrition Therapist. Once in charge of the Hospital Infection Control Service of the City of Franca’s General Hospital, she was responsible for the control of all prescribed antimicrobial medication and received an award for the best paper presented at the Brazilian Hospital Infection Control Congress (1998). Since 1997, she works with the approach and treatment of all chronic diseases in a holistic way, with treatment guided through teachings of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Hippocrates.

Dr. Mirna manages InDevR’s cross-functional R&D and Engineering departments, guiding and overseeing the development of the company’s extensive technology portfolio and related intellectual property.Dr. Mirna earned her Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, holds a B.S. (summa cum laude) from Hartwick College in Oneonta, NY, and completed her postdoctoral training at the University of Colorado at Boulder. Ayshoa has published a wide number of high impact scientic publications and is a named inventor on numerous issued or pending patents.

Dr. Aaron McColpin has been in health care for over 28 years working as a Respiratory Therapist, Registered Nurse, Nurse Practitioner, and Educator. He has doctor work innursing, education, and health care. He is currently an assistant professor in theCollege of Nursing and Health Professions at the California State University Channel Islands. He has BS degree in Nursing and Health Science, an MSN with Nurse Practitioner from Graceland University and a DNP from Maryville University. He has extensive experience in clinical nursing practice and academia including teaching in traditional, hybrid, and online environments with experience in Emergency Medicine, Critical Care, and Family Practice.

Vaccination represents one of our greatest weapons against infectious diseases. However, there is a need for optimizing vaccine potency, safeness and stability. Subunit vaccines have proven to be more stable and safer than live attenuated vaccines, but they lack the potency to evoke a correct immune response. Nanoparticles have been used in biomedical applications due to certain properties like shape, surface reactivity, and size. Among them, inorganic nanoparticles like those of mesoporous silica have gained interest due to their biocompatibility, absorbance/encapsulation capability, and easiness of functionalization. We designed a new carrier composed of mesoporous silica particles known as SBA-15 (Santa Barbara Amorphous-15), modied with a surface lipid bilayer (SLB) that displays an amphipathic lipid with adjuvant capabilities. The particles were synthesized by condensation of tetra-ethyl-ortho silicate in the presence of Pluronic 123. Phosphatidylinositol mannosides (PIMs), which are known to be TLR-2 agonists from mycobacteria, were isolated and assembled within SLB. Cationization of SBA-15 particles with amine groups was performed in order to promote the electrostatic interaction between silica and the negative phospholipid bilayers. Electron microscopy, raman spectroscopy, zeta potential, and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) analyses were used to characterize the as-obtained particles, and their interaction with THP-1 macrophages was assessed through confocal and DIC microscopy. The biomimetic colloids, named PIM@SBA-15, showed biocompatibility towards human broblasts and were found to colocalize with Toll-like receptor TLR-2 upon their incubation with THP1-derived macrophages. Furthermore, the particles induced the formation of pseudopods and were internalized into phagocytic cells. In all, these data suggest the usefulness of PIM@SBA-15 particles to better comprehend the interactions between immune cells and PIMs.

He completed his 3 year Senior Residency from Lady Hardinge Medical College & Hospital, New Delhi in 2009. He then worked as a faculty at different dental colleges and was promoted to Professor, Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery in 2016. He again joined Lady Hardinge Medical College as a Faculty in 2016. He has worked as a co-investigator in pilot project on school-based sealant programme 2017 under Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India.
