Dr. Samir C. Debnath, P.Ag. is a Research Scientist at the St. John’s Research and Development Centre of Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC) in Newfoundland and Labrador and an Adjunct Professor of Biology at the Memorial University of Newfoundland. He has authored and co-authored around 120 publications in peer-reviewed journals including review papers and book chapters. He has been a keynote speaker and an invited speaker at a number of international and national conferences and meetings, was the President of the Newfoundland and Labrador Institute of Agrologists (P.Ag.) and the Canadian Society for Horticultural Science; the Editor-in-Chief of the journal: Scientia Horticulturae, and a Special Issue Editor of Agronomy (MDPI). He was the Country Representative for Canada and the Council Member of the International Society for Horticultural Science. His research concerns biotechnology along with conventional method-based value-added small fruit and medicinal plant production, propagation and genetic enhancement. Much of his current work focuses on wild germplasm, antioxidant activity, biodiversity and micropropagation for berry crop improvement using in vitro and molecular techniques combined with conventional methods.

Claude Billeaud received his MD degree from the Medical University of Bordeaux ( France) in 1979 after a graduation in human cytogenetics (1976). He then studied pediatrics and has been the Clinical Assistant Director of Bordeaux University in the departments of Pediatrics, Neonatology and Intensive Care since 1983.He currently serves as a pediatrician in the neonatal unit at the Children’s Hospital of Bordeaux, as a scientific manager of Bordeaux-Marmande human milk bank, as a lecturer and head of research (HDR : Habilitation to direct research) in neonatal nutrition at the Medical University of Bordeaux. His particular interest in research led him to graduate in Biology and Health (1988, Bordeaux), be awarded a master in statistics applied to clinical research ( 1991, Montreal) and complete a PhD in nutrition and food science (2000, Bordeaux).Along his career he has often been invited as a guest professor specialised in nutrition and neonatology in various universities abroad ( Montreal, Corrientes in Argentina).Over the last 35 years, he has been an active member of different scientific organisations, either French, European or American, specialised in perinatal medicine (neonatology, pediatrics and nutrition). In this instance, he has served as the President of the Association for Pediatric Education in Europe (A.P.E.E) since 2008 and behalf APEE he is Member of European Academy of Paediatrics (EAP). He has also been very involved in the French human milk banking association (ADLF) for more than 10 years, sharing his academic knowledge focused in nutrition and his long clinical experience in neonatology. He is currently carrying out several researches on the composition of human milk.As an expert in nutrition and perinatal medicine, he is also the author and co-author of numerous scientific publications.

Ningning Zhao received his Ph.D. in Nutritional Science from the University of Florida. His postdoctoral training at Oregon Health & Science University was focused on molecular cell biology of metal metabolism. The research in his lab has been focused on examining the basic cell biology of membrane proteins involved in metal metabolism and investigating the role of these proteins in human diseases including hereditary hemochromatosis, cancer, and metal-related neurodegeneration.

She has more than 20-yrs of national/international research and teaching experience and has received numerous scholarships, awards and recognitions. Simone Brogi is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Pharmacy at University of Pisa (Italy). He leads the Computational Pharmacology and Toxicology Unit in the research group of Prof. Vincenzo Calderone. He graduated in 2005 in Biological Sciences from the University of Siena (Italy), where he also received his Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences in 2010. From 2011 to 2019 he directed the Molecular Modeling Unit at the Department of Biotechnology, Chemistry and Pharmacy (University of Siena) in the research group of Prof. Giuseppe Campiani. His research activity is focused on computational approaches in drug discovery, with over 85 papers.

Dr. Dalia El Khoury received a BSc in Nutrition and Dietetics (2002) and an MSc in Nutrition (2005) at the American University of Beirut, Lebanon. Afterward, she completed her PhD in Physiology and Physiopathology at the University of Pierre et Marie Curie, France (2008). Dr. El Khoury then served as a lecturer at the American University of Beirut (2009-2010), and as a postdoctoral fellow and sessional lecturer at the University of Toronto, Canada (2010-2014). Later, she joined an international leading company in infant and child nutrition, Mead Johnson Nutrition, as senior scientist in Global Regulatory and Nutrition Science for approximately two years (2014-2016). Currently, Dr. El Khoury is an assistant professor in the department of Family Relations and Applied Nutrition at the University of Guelph, Canada. One of her lines of research aims at identifying novel biomarkers for the metabolic syndrome both in children and adults.

Juan J. Narvaez Reinaldo background focuses on the promotion of seedlings under optimum and suboptimum conditions. Since 2014, He is in charge of the seed technology department at Fitó Seeds with the aim to develop seed treatments (priming, seed coating, seed disinfection & seed sorting) with agronomical value. His team work with cucurbitaceae, solanaceae, leguminous, corn, sunflower, grasses, turf and forage crops. His team have developed different seed treatment brands such as FitóCare, FitóOptima & FitóPower. Before he got his PhD at the University of Granada. His thesis was focused on the development of biological film coatings (based on the use of plant growth promoting rhizobacteria) with the aim to protect seedlings against abiotic stressful conditions (waterlogging, desiccation and contaminated soils).

She continued with postgraduate studies, and at the same time, she joined the research group of Prof. Ana Briones Pérez at the Yeast Biotechnology laboratory in Castilla-La Mancha University. She receiver her PhD degree in 2019 at the same institution. Currently, she obtained a postdoctoral fellowship supervised by Dra. Dr. Wu is a molecular and nutritional epidemiologist with training in medicine, epidemiology, and nutritional biochemistry. She received her M.D. from China, PhD in nutrition from the University of North Carolina and Master of Epidemiology from Harvard School of Public Health.  She finished her postdoctoral training at Harvard School of Public Health focusing on nutritional and molecular epidemiology.  She has received several grants and published many papers focusing on dietary and biochemical predictors of aging related chronic diseases in the past 15 years.  Dr. Wu was awarded several prestigious awards for her contribution on identifying fluorescent oxidation products as a strong predictor for heart disease and hip fractures. Examples of her awards are Jeremiah & Rose Stamler Research award and Elizabeth Barrett-Connor Research Award nomination from American Heart Association.  She is currently an Associate Professor of Epidemiology at School of Public Health, San Diego State University.

Blanca del Noval is a member of the research group of BCulinaryLAB. She works as chef researcher at BCCInnovation, Technological Center in Gastronomy of Basque Culinary Center and as Invited Professor at the Faculty of Gastronomic Sciences of Mondragon Unibertsitatea. Blanca has a BS in Gastronomy and Culinary Arts and she has been working on understanding fermentation process in order to revalue by-products and the value of wild edible plants in gastronomy during last years. She published an open source manual about how transform co-products into products with gastronomic value.

Dr. Sylvia Adjoa Mitchell studied Botany / Geography (BSc) and Biotechnology (PhD) at The University of the West Indies (UWI) graduating in 2000. After 7 years at the Scientific Research Council and 3 years at the Sugar Industry Research Institute, Jamaica she was given the opportunity in 1999 to initiate the Medicinal Plant Biotechnology research group, at the Biotechnology Centre, UWI. After two years running the MPBRG, she obtained the position of Assistant Lecturer, and in 2014 of Senior Lecturer in Biotechnology. Her publications include 27 research articles in refereed journals, one ebook, 3 book chapters and six international technical reports

She has a B.S. degree in Biotechnology from University of Basque Country and a M.S. in Food Quality and Security. She has been recently hired by BCCInnovation to increase knowledge in the sustainability area, because of her expertise during several months working on different I+D departments in different companies. Thanks to a training grant from the Basque Government, in the scientific-technological and business environment of the Basque agricultural and food sector, her PhD studies focus on researching how fermentation and enzymes can be used in the development of high value food products. In addition to her PhD research, she works in different research and innovation activities of the BCCInnovation center.

Researcher-Chef at BCC Innovation (Basque Culinary Center), Paula has an MS in Gastronomic Science, a BS in Gastronomy and Culinary Arts and a BS in Environmental Sciences. She has worked in several restaurants and participated in different research projects, most of them focusing on the development of new foods using co-products derived from the food industry and also from restaurants. Because of her background, Paula brings a differential value in the food design process, with a highlight on social and environmental aspects.

Yechiam Shapira has a master degree (M.Sc.) in fish health and fish genetics from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. He has more than 30 years of experience in fish culture in ponds and in cages in Israel and abroad. Between the years 2006-2010 he was the CEO of Subflex, offshore cages company. At the years 2011-2013 he was the health manager in an offshore cages farm in Campeche, Mexico. Since 2014, Yechiam is working in Phibro, in the aquaculture department. First as the R&D manager, and later as a senior researcher and professional manager for the aquaculture sector in Israel.

Daniela Silva has a degree in Biochemistry from the Faculty of Sciences and Technology of  the University of Coimbra (Portugal) in 2005 PhD in Biomedical Sciences from the Institute of Biomedical Sciences of Abel Salazar (ICBAS) of the University of Porto (Portugal) in 2013. She obtained the certification as a coordinating researcher of practical animal research by FELASA and the National Animal Health Authority (DGV) in 2011  During his career he did research in the area of bacterial toxins at the Institute of Molecular and Cellular Biology (IBMC) in Porto and at Rudolf-Virchow-Zentrum at the University of Wurzburg (Germany) having collaborated on several projects. Since 2013 she assumes the position of Head of Molecular Biology R & D at ALS Controlvet- (Tondela, Portugal), where he leads applied research developed at the company in the application of molecular biology techniques for the development of new analytical methods in the field of food safety and quality control and veterinary tests, specializing in the PCR and DNA sequencing techniques. She is the author of 6 scientific articles and a patent.

Dr. Zavala studied Agronomy at the University of Buenos Aires and graduated in 1994. He then joined the research group of Prof. Baldwin at the Max Planck Institute for Chemical Ecology, Jena, Germany, where he received his PhD degree in 2004. After two years of postdoc at the same institution, he moved to the University of Illinois for 2 years to work under the supervision of Profs Berenbaum and DeLucia. Currently he is Associate Professor of Biochemistry at the school of Agronomy, University of Buenos Aires. He has published more than 50 research articles in SCI(E) journals.

Ms. Kusnyarik studied Bioengineering and later Chromatography at Budapest University of Technology and Economics, Hungary and graduated as MS in 2005 (Bioengineering) and in 2009 (Chromatography). She joined National Food Chain Safety Office in 2005, Hungary, where she has gained experience in several food analytics fields starting with classical analytical tests, various residues, and environmental contaminants through food contact materials examination.

Mr. Inaba graduated from the faculty of electrical engineering of Keio University in 1984. He then joined the corporate R&D of Toyo Seikan Group, which manufactures various kinds of food packages such as metal cans and retort pouches. After working there for 20 years, he moved to the technology development division of Toyo Seikan Co., Ltd. as the manager of the Customer Solution department, where he engaged in the development of technology for the filling, sealing, and sterilization of food and beverage packages. In 2015, he joined Toyo Institute of Food Technology as a senior research manager.

She had joined the research group of Prof. Karadjova in the Laboratory of Analytical Atomic Spectrometry in Faculty of Chemistry and Pharmacy at Sofia University. She received her PhD degree in 2013 at the same institution. In the same year she obtained the position of an Associate Professor in Department of Analytical chemistry in Faculty of Chemistry and Pharmacy at Sofia University. Consults for the largest irrigated citrus area in Brazil, works in Latin America.Accountable for the reintroduction of drip irrigation in Brazil. Works with fertigation of agribusiness effluents. Participates in programs to optimize river basins. Developed governmental projects for the settlement of multiple families in irrigated fruit growing regions in northern Brazil. Member of the GTACC group providing technical assistance to the largest citrus planted area in the country.

Aydin Kilic is an Assistant Professor at the University of RTE, Faculty of Engineering and Department of Food Engineering in Turkey. He received his Bachelor of Science (1992) in Marine Science from the Karadeniz Technical University in Turkey, Master of Science (1995) in Food Engineering from the Selcuk University in Turkey and PhD (2004) in Food Engineering from the Hacettepe University in Ankara, Turkey. Dr. Sarayut Thaikua studied Biology at Ramkhamheang University, Thailand and graduated as BS in 1996. He then joined the Shrimp research group of Prof. Flegel at the National Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology, Thailand as the technician for 2 years. He then worked as scientist, pasture science, at Department of Livestock Development (DLD), Thailand for 5 years. In 2005, he studied Plant breeding at Khonkaen University, Thailand and graduated as MS in 2012. He then returned to work at DLD again, focused on forage crop breeding. Mr. Janse van Rensburg studied BSc Molecular Biology and Biotechnology at the University of Stellenbosch, South Africa and graduated in 2013. Thereafter he continued his postgraduate studies at the Institute for Plant Biotechnology at Stellenbosch University, South Africa obtaining his MSc in 2015. He joined the research group of Prof. Wim Van den Ende in the Molecular Plant Biology laboratory at KU Leuven in Belgium for his PhD. As a third year PhD student in INRAE and AgroParisTech – ABIES doctoral school, I am really passionate about agricultural, biological and environmental sciences. Thando Matutu studied Audiovisual Production Management at the University of Johannesburg, South Africa and graduated in 2011. He joined CNBCA Africa and Forbes Africa as a media specialist in 2014. The agricultural journey started in 2014 following a trip to Uganda where he learned about the importance and power of food value-chains. Upon his return to South Africa he took greater interest in the local development of entrepreneurs in the agricultural sector. This focus was important for him as he believed that the agricultural value-chain need both farmers and entrepreneurs to grow the sector. He started his Agripreneur journey with Made with Rural where he managed their public relations, media, marketing and communication. He later ventured into poultry farming in a partnership under the company Unplowed Ground Food Processing. His biggest impact and influence in promoting entrepreneurship in agriculture came through his management and leadership role in Agripreneur SA since 2018. Dr. Suresh Challa obtained his Master’s Degree in Biochemistry from Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupati and received Gold Medal for being the first rank holder in the university. He has obtained his Ph.D in Biochemistry from the same university. His research interests include Nutritional Biochemistry and Biochemical Toxicology both in vitro and in vivo models. He is presently serving as a Scientist at National Institute of Nutrition and his research involves in addressing the pathologies associated with Osteoporosis and different therapeutic approaches in combating the disease and studying the intracellular effects of Cowpea isoflavones using both in vitro and in vivo models. Dr. Tanveer is a Program Officer of the Asian Productivity Organization, an intergovernmental organization based in Tokyo. Formerly, he was a Sustainable Agriculture Advisor of Friends In Village Development Bangladesh (FIVDB) and Senior Scientist of the Bangladesh Rice Research Institute (BRRI). Dr. Tanveer holds a PhD in Agriculture from Ehime University, Japan (2008). He was awarded the grand prize of the Organic Farming Innovation Award (OFIA) by the International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements (IFOAM) in 2011. Currently, he serves as an Ambassador for IFOAM and Asian Local Government for Organic Agriculture (ALGOA) and was previously Vice-President of IFOAM-Asia. I have been working as a lecturer at Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia in 2011; and have been working on plant ecology of the desert and forest in Saudi Arabia. I did my BSc (Class Hons) in Botany and followed by MSc (Class Hons) in Plant Ecology with Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. My thesis for my MSc was "The effect of Autotoxicity and Intraspecific competition on the plantation and seedling growth in Ziziphus nummularia". Ziziphus nummularia is an important species that has ecological value, but regeneration of the species is very low despite its high production of seeds. PNU funded research project working with Department of Biology to evaluate the effects of some factors such as allelopathy and competition on seedlings growth. I have got a scholarship from the Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia’s Cultural Bureau (SACB) and Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University (PNU). In 2015, I moved to Department of Biosciences, Swansea University, UK to be postgraduate researcher and pursue a PhD in plant ecology. Supervised PhD project by Dr James Bull and Prof Luca Borger in the Department of Biosciences, Swansea University, UK. This project will aim to be looking at spatial structure in population genetics in UK seagrass, Zostera marina to better understand the link between demography, ecological dynamics and population genetics. Raj Kumar Joshi is Associate Professor at the Dept. of Biotechnology, Rama Devi Women’s University, India where he teaches graduate level courses on Plant Genomics and Genetic Engineering. He also serves as the Group Leader of the Plant Functional Genomics Group, and in that capacity he supervises the overall research activities on the functional aspects of molecular plant-microbe interactions. After two years running the MPBRG, she obtained the position of Assistant Lecturer, and in 2014 as Senior Lecturer in Biotechnology. Dr. Ranjeeta Mourya completed her graduation and post graduation in Science in 1999 and 2002, respectively from CSJM University, Kanpur, India. Then after she joined Central Drug Research Institute, Lucknow, India for the Ph.D. programme and she was awarded Ph.D.in 2008. She has worked at different Institutes of national repute in various capacities. Recently, she was awarded Women Scientist project from Department of Health Research, ICMR during October, 2016 to Mach, 2020. She has been continuously working in the area of Medicinal Plant Research especially in evaluation of aphrodisiac, pro-fertility activities along with ameliorative/ protective potential of medicinal plants in reproductive toxicity. She has published several research papers in various journals. She has also authored one book on various medicinal uses of weeds.

Dr. V. Vishnuprasad studied Botany at the SIES College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Sion (West) affiliated to University of Mumbai and graduated in 2007 followed by post-graduation in Environmental Botany in 2009. He then went on to pursue Ph.D. in Forest Botany at the Forest Research Institute (Deemed) University, Dehradun, Uttarakhand in 2013 under the guidance of Dr. Sangeeta Gupta, Scientist - G, Wood Anatomy. His research work has been published in the esteemed journal Trees – Structure and Function in 2017. He later joined Botany department of SIES College of Arts, Science and Commerce (Autonomous), Mumbai as an Assistant Professor and has been engaged in academics and research.

Raj Kumar Joshi is Associate Professor at the Dept. of Biotechnology, Rama Devi Women’s University, India where he teaches graduate level courses on Plant Genomics and Genetic Engineering. He also serves as the Group Leader of the Plant Functional Genomics Group, and in that capacity he supervises the overall research activities on the functional aspects of molecular plant-microbe interactions. He has been awarded with the prestigious SERB early career grant and SERB extramural grant from the Dept. of Science and technology, Govt. of India and CREST award from Dept. of Biotechnology, Govt. of India. Dr. Joshi is currently running a successful programme on the delineation of molecular networks in the interaction between plants and fungal phytopathogens. His recent forays into genome editing and precise base editing towards improvement of these crops has been highly productive.

Prof. B N Hazarika, PhD  presently working as Dean, College of Horticulture and Forestry, CAU, Pasighat, Arunachal Pradesh. Prof. B N Hazarika guided a number of PG & Ph D students, handled   several   externally funded research projects and organized 90 trainings. He has published 80 research papers, published 20 books, 25 conference papers and book chapter, 11 practical manual, 25 Bulletins, edited 13 souvenir and 245 popular articles. He contributed significantly in collection, morphological and molecular characterization of diverse genotype of various fruit crops, standardized  good agricultural practices  for some major fruit crops; introduced new fruit crops in the region.

Dr. Parimalan Rangan studied Agriculture (PBG) at TNAU, Coimbatore for post-graduation (2003), and did PhD in Biotechnology at CSIR-CFTRI, Mysuru (2008).  Joined ICAR in 2009 as Scientist at ICAR-NBPGR, New Delhi.  Through DBT funded IACBGF scheme, had two years post-doctoral fellowship at Prof. Robert Henry lab of the QAAFI, The University of Queensland, Australia (2014-16) to work on transcriptome approaches for grain quality in wheat under the impact of heat stress.  After which, continuing at ICAR-NBPGR.  Identified the accomplishment of non-Kranz C4 pathway in wheat grains, with wheat being a C3 plant.

Dr. Sunita Chandel studied her BSc Agriculture from Himachal Pradesh Krishi Vishvidhalaya, Palampur, India and obtained her post graduate degrees in MSc and Ph.D in Mycology & Plant Pathology in years 1987 & 1991from Dr.Y.S.Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni, Solan (H.P).She joined as Assistant Professor in 1992 in Department of Plant Pathology of the same University, and presently working as Professor. She was awarded University Merit Fellowship in B.Sc Agriculture, ICAR Junior Fellowship for Master’s Research, Research fellowship for Ph.D and worked as Research Associate. Selected for Commonwealth Academic Staff Fellowship (2005-06) programme at University of Aberdeen, Scotland, U.K. and worked under supervision of Steve Woodward. Received SERC Fast track research proposal of DST for Young Scientists in Life Sciences and published 105 research articles in SCI journals of National and International repute.

Dr. Lee studied Crop Physiology in Department of Agronomy of National Taiwan University, Taipei, Taiwan and graduated as MS in 1984. I then joined the crop physiology stress research group of Prof. Chu at the Institute of Agronomy, National Taiwan University and received my Ph.D degree in 1990. After four-year postdoctoral research on photosynthesis and protease function supervised by Dr Hsieh and Dr. Lin at the Institute of Botany, Academia Sinica, Taipei, Taiwan, I obtained the position of an Associate Professor at the National Sun Yat-sen University, Kaohsing, Taiwan, and promoted to Distinguished Professor since 2013. I have published more than 75 research articles in SCI(E) journals.

Dr. Bahadır Törün studied Biology at the Ege University, Turkey and graduated in 2010. He then completed his masters degree in 2013 at Anadolu University, Eskişehir. He received his PhD degree in 2018 at Aydın Adnan Menderes University. He studied in University of Science and Technology in Poland for six months.
