Dr. David Hoffman Van Thiel majored in chemistry at Pomona College in California and obtained his MD from the University of California Los Angeles in 1963. He completed a year of pathology training between his second and third year of medical school. His house officer training occurred at the Cornell University in NYC from 1963-1965 and Boston University between1967-1969 having been interrupted for 2 years of government service at the NIH. Following his training, he spent 20 years at the University of Pittsburgh as a professor of medicine and developed 5 different liver transplant programs published >1100 peer –reviewed papers.

As postdoc/research associate/visiting professor/full professor he conducted research at University of Bucharest, International Centre for Theoretical Physics (Italy), École Polytechnique and Institut Henri Poincaré (France), KU Leuven (Belgium). He received two Fulbright grants (Yale and UNM, USA). He run research in neuroimaging at JHU, NHI, and WRAIR, USA. He is member of 10 scientific societies, member of Editorial Boards of 12 journals, and published more than 150 scientific papers, and 12 textbooks.

Dr. Adam Wiśniewski is currently working as Assistant Professor in Department of Neurology at Collegium Medicum in Bydgoszcz, Nicolaus Copernicus  University in Toruń, Poland. He received his Medicine Doctor degree on December, 2018 from  Nicolaus Copernicus  University in Toruń, Poland. From 1 October 2019- the Head of Stroke Intensive Unit in Department of Neurology, The University Hospital No 1 in Bydgoszcz, Poland. Dr. Wiśniewski has authored several relevant publications in respective peer-review journals. His publications reflect his research interests in relationships between stroke and platelet reactivity. He is a member of American Heart Association/ American Stroke Association- Stroke Council, European Stroke Organisation, World Stroke Organisation, and European Academy of Neurology.

After receiving his Medical Degree at the University of Ulm, Dr. Schupp got a broad clinical education and did residencies in Psychiatry at Max Planck Institute for Psychiatry, Munich, and in Neurology at the Clinic for Neurology, of Ludwig Maximilian University (LMU), Munich. In this time he additionally started his work on neurorehabilitation together with the Clinic and Institute for Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine of LMU Munich. Very early (1989) he became (Junior) Medical Head of a privately owned neurorehabilitation clinic. Since 1996 he is presently Medical Head of the Department for Neurology and Neuropsychology, Fachklinik Herzogenaurach, a privately owned inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation clinic affiliated with FAU since 2017 he is additionally heading the Department for Geriatric Rehabilitation. Dr. Schupp has received the recognitions as neurologist, psychiatrist, and geriatrist, and for social medicine, all by the Bavarian Chamber of Physicians, where he had become a member of Advisory Boards for these medical subspecialties. He has been appointed as a member of Advisory Boards and of Managing Groups by different legal and statutory Bavarian and German institutions and by some national scientific societies working in the field of neurorehabilitation and social medicine. He had been a Delegate to the European Assembly of Neurology (EAN) from 2015 - 2018, and is still a member of its scientific panel Neurorehabilitation. His scientific work started with clinical approaches to neurorehabilitation problems in stroke, TBI, and others, even rare neuromuscular diseases. Due to his expertise in social medicine he published some important basic papers on organization and delivery of neurorehabilitation treatment and services in Germany. He and his clinic was involved in CERISE (Collaborative Evaluation of Rehabilitation in Stroke across Europe) financed by EU Commission and Switzerland. Since 2014 he has started common research on stroke rehab with Fujian University of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Fuzhou/China. His papers and presentation had been awarded on the national, the European and the international level several times. Dr. Schupp is listed in Editorial boards of national and European journals in the field of (neuro) rehabilitation and social medicine.

Dr. Mirna manages InDevR’s cross-functional R&D and Engineering departments, guiding and overseeing the development of the company’s extensive technology portfolio and related intellectual property.Dr. Mirna earned her Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, holds a B.S. (summa cum laude) from Hartwick College in Oneonta, NY, and completed her postdoctoral training at the University of Colorado at Boulder. Ayshoa has published a wide number of high impact scientific publications and is a named inventor on numerous issued or pending patents.

Erica Edfort have over 15 years experience as a stroke health care professional working with several hospitals systems developing the protocols to manage the care of the acute stroke patient.  I have many years experience educating stroke patients, family members, the community and a variety of stoke health care professionals through the state of New Jersey to provide the highest level of care possible. As an educator, I now teach my students the processes to follow to provide appropriate levels of care for the acute stroke patient.

Since 1997, she works with the approach and treatment of all chronic diseases in a holistic way, with treatment guided through teachings of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Hippocrates.

Vaccination represents one of our greatest weapons against infectious diseases.  However, there is a need for optimizing vaccine potency, safeness and stability. Subunit vaccines have proven to be more stable and safer than live attenuated vaccines, but they lack the potency to evoke a correct immune response. Nanoparticles have been used in biomedical applications due to certain properties like shape, surface reactivity, and size. Among them, inorganic nanoparticles like those of mesoporous silica have gained interest due to their biocompatibility, absorbance/encapsulation capability, and easiness of functionalization. We designed a new carrier composed of mesoporous silica particles known as SBA-15 (Santa Barbara Amorphous-15), modified with a surface lipid bilayer (SLB) that displays an amphipathic lipid with adjuvant capabilities. The particles were synthesized by condensation of tetra-ethyl-ortho silicate in the presence of Pluronic 123. Phosphatidylinositol mannosides (PIMs), which are known to be TLR-2 agonists from mycobacteria, were isolated and assembled within SLB. Cationization of SBA-15 particles with amine groups was performed in order to promote the electrostatic interaction between silica and the negative phospholipid bilayers. Electron microscopy, raman spectroscopy, zeta potential, and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) analyses were used to characterize the as-obtained particles, and their interaction with THP-1 macrophages was assessed through confocal and DIC microscopy. The biomimetic colloids, named PIM@SBA-15, showed biocompatibility towards human fibroblasts and were found to colocalize with Toll-like receptor TLR-2 upon their incubation with THP1-derived macrophages. Furthermore, the particles induced the formation of pseudopods and were internalized into phagocytic cells. In all, these data suggest the usefulness of PIM@SBA-15 particles to better comprehend the interactions between immune cells and PIMs.

We have been hearing for centuries that ‘fever is not a disease but a symptom’. Physicians say that fever is a symptom of diseases like flu to cancer. The conservative fever definition, diagnosis, and treatments are based on fever as a symptom. All the studies related to fever as a symptom of a disease have been done without knowing the Purpose of the temperature of fever is.   Without knowing the Purpose of the temperature of fever, how can fever included in the symptom definition?  Temperature between 38o to 41o centigrade can be symptom of a disease?     Most of the diseases may not have a fever. Sometimes it disappears. Then, is fever a symptom of which disease?   Symptom Definition is the only parameter necessary for a Symptom. As with any or all other definitions, symptom definition should describe the symptom scientifically. If it cannot describe clearly, there is no use of a symptom definition. A symptom is a departure from normal function or feeling which is noticed only by a patient, indicating the presence of disease or abnormality. One cannot be understood directly the temperature is elevated in the hypothalamus. A mechanical device is necessary to measure elevated temperature in the hypothalamus. In symptom definition, fever definition can’t be found. The elevation of body temperature is not included in symptom definition. Different cause of diseases never shows the same symptoms.          Different causes of diseases like virus, bacteria, fungi, venom, horror scene, horror dream,... never shows the same symptoms. Its actions are different and sometimes opposite. No similarities can be seen between their actions.   Elevated temperature or increased temperature never make fever or symptoms of fever. It may create hyperthermia. None of the diseases or causes of diseases require fever as its symptom.    If the mosquito bites its virus, bacteria, venom gets deposited in the body as a result according to nature and strength of Viruses, bacteria, venom symptoms like itching, pain, and signals like colour change, inflammation may occur.  we can see the symptoms, Signals, and indications of the virus, bacteria, the venom which multiple or spreading or damages(disease) the body before fever emerge. Patients who have flu to cancer may not have a fever.     How can we separate symptoms of the disease and symptoms of fever and symptoms of rising temperatures?   In fever, both symptoms of disease and symptoms of Fever are included. Deduct symptom of disease from total symptoms, we will get symptoms of fever.   (Disease +Fever)- Disease =Fever. (Symptoms of disease +Symptoms of Fever)- Symptoms of disease =Symptoms of Fever (bitter taste, body pain, fatigue to mind and body, reduced appetite, reduced motion and indigestion, internal and external discomfort,…)     Like that we can separate signs, signals, and actions of both fever and disease.   (Signals of disease +Signals of Fever) - Signals of disease =Signals of Fever(high temperature, shivering, unconscious,....)   (Signs of disease +Signs of Fever) - Signs of disease =Signs of Fever.   (Actions of disease +Actions of Fever) - Actions of disease =Actions of Fever. In fever  does not show any actions of temperature rise.   How can we prove the fever is not a symptom.  The fever is not symptom when examined in various directions.   In fever, both symptoms of disease and symptoms of fever are included. Deduct symptom of disease from total symptoms, we will get symptoms of fever. we can separate signs, signals, and actions of both fever and disease and rising temperature.   Temperature between 38 degrees and 41 degrees cannot be a symptom of any of the diseases.   A different cause of diseases like virus, bacteria, fungi, venom, horror scene, and horror dream never shows the same symptoms.    Fever has never been scientifically proved as a symptom of a disease. Fever has the properties of adaptation.   If we ask any type of question-related to fever by assuming that the fever is not a symptom we will get a clear answer. If we avoid or evade from this we will never get a proper answer to even a single question.

Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome is caused by the infection of HIV. It is indicated when CD4+ T cell count is below 200 cells per µL. Till now there is no cure for the HIV.
