Dr. Kurochkina received her PhD degree in 1990 in Biophysics at the Institute of Protein Research, Russian Academy of Sciences, Puschino, Russia. She worked as postdoctoral fellow at the National Cancer Institute of the National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, USA. After working at Applied Thermodynamics, she obtained the position of a Professor at the School of Theoretical Modeling. She has published more than 30 research articles in SCI(E) journals, authored a book, and is a book editor with Springer Nature.

Volicer, MD, PhD, FAAN, FGSA is currently the Courtesy Full Professor at the School of Aging Studies, University of South Florida, Tampa, FL, Twenty five years ago, he established one of the first Dementia Special Care Units and introduced the concept of structured palliative care for patients with advanced dementia. Goals of care on this unit are quality of life, dignity and comfort instead of prolongation of life at all costs. Dr. Volicer investigated various aspects of dementia care and published over 300 articles and chapters and edited six books on clinical management of dementia.

She´s certified as a Pediatrician from Mackenzie Evangelical University Hospital and in Neuropediatrics from Little Prince Hospital, both localized in the city of Curitiba. During the two years of the residency program in Neuropediatrics, she studied with Dr. Adriana Banzatto Ortega about Neuromuscular diseases, especially Spinal Muscular Atrophy. Dr. Capani received his diploma as a Medicine Doctor, MD, at the School of Medicine of the University of Buenos Aires (UBA), Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 1993. He pursued studying Neurosciences and in 1997 achieved his Ph.D. degree at the University of Buenos Aires (UBA), Buenos Aires, Argentina. He developed as a post-doctoral research fellow at the National Center for Electron Microscopy and Imaging Research (NCMIR-UCSD-USA, Mark Ellisman Laboratory) between 1997 and 2002 and as a visiting scientist at the Department of Neuroscience of the Karolinska Institute (Oleg Shupliakov Laboratory). In 2006, Dr. Capani joined the Department of Histology and Cell Biology at the School of Medicine of the University of Buenos Aires, as an Assistant Research Scientist of the National Research Council (CONICET) Argentina, working at the Cell Biology and Neuroscience Institute “Prof. Dr. Eduardo de Robertis” (IBCN).. In 2008, Dr. Capani moved to the Institute of Cardiological Research (ININCA. UBA-CONICET) where he was appointed as Vice Director of the Institute and Head of the Laboratory of Cytoarchitecture and Neuronal Plasticity. In 2009, Dr. Capani was appointed as a Full Professor at the Department of Biology of the John F. Kennedy University, Buenos Aires, Argentinian. In 2018, Dr. Capani was appointed as the Director of the ININCA. UBA-CONICET. He has collaborated as a Visiting Researcher at the Federal University of Río de Janeiro, Brazil, the Marburg University, Germany, the Greifswald University, Germany, the University of Catania, Italy, the University of Málaga, the University Javeriana, Colombia, and the Institute of Histology and Embryology (IHEM), Mendoza Argentina.

Her field of interest includes neurochemistry and neuropharmacology in psycho-neurological deficits, Parkinson’s disease and Alzheimer’s dementia; endocrinology and genetics of rare disorders. She is also involved in development of translational medicine in the fields of neurology and psychiatry as well as finding the rare genetic mutations in stone formation and neuro-genetics.
